Girijyothi SHG Federation celebrated its anniversary on 20 April 2026 at Rajamudy. Mar John Nellikunnel presided over the meeting. He urged the district panchayat leadership to take a more proactive role in waste management across Idukki district and in the construction and maintenance of women-friendly toilets in Cheruthoni. He made this appeal in the presence of District Panchayat President Sheela Stephen.
He also appreciated the commendable services rendered by Highrange Development Society for the upliftment of the common people, particularly the poor and women.
Inaugurating the conference, Sheela Stephen called for collective action to eliminate plastic waste. Director Rev. Dr. Joseph Kochukunnel outlined the various projects being implemented by HDS. Arun M. S. observed that the Highrange Development Society is one of the leading voluntary organizations in Idukki district.
As part of the programme, Block Panchayat Industrial Development Officer Rajesh conducted a session on government schemes and benefits available to women entrepreneurs.
The programme began with a prayer led by the Rajamudy unit. Executive Director Rev. Dr. Joseph Kochukunnel welcomed the gathering. Fr. Jose Karivelikkal delivered the keynote address at the conference presided over by Bishop Mar John Nellikunnel of the Idukki Diocese. Block Panchayat President Sandramol Jinni and Vathikudi Panchayat President Vinod Joseph also extended their greetings.

Representatives from various banks and institutions, including Canara Bank Manager Albert P., Federal Bank Manager Arnold, Union Bank Manager Pranaya Gupta, South Indian Bank Manager Chinchan George, and Backward Development Corporation Manager Riyas, were present at the event. Girijyothi Credit Union Diocese President Kunjamma Thomas proposed the vote of thanks. Cultural programmes were also presented by SHG members.
