About The Organisation
The Highrange Development Society(HDS) is a secular social Service Society, Registered under the Travancore/ Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Act XII of 1955, with the Reg.No.I-231/2003. It is the official organ of the Department of social Works of the Diocese of Idukki.
Our operational area covers approximately 3000 sq. kilometers,which includes three Revenue Tahesils of Idukki District namely, Devikulam, Udumpanchola and Thodupuzha.
It has a population of 7,95,846. Agriculture is the backbone of the economy since major chunk of the population is small and marginal farmers and agricultural labours.
The project area covers over 11500 tribals in various settlements. These aborigines are concentrated in the forests. They are socially, economically, educationally and culturally backward.
